I think I'm going to hold off on generating new trail maps for now. Since it looks like you're working the standards section, I'll do some work toward getting a "proof of concept" statistics calculation working, or at the very least I'll do enough research to know exactly what we need help with.

sounds good to me. I'll be "off the grid" until late friday night so I won't be able to get much done between now and then. Let me know if you need any help with that stat stuff. I have some experience in java, but not very much. I already got Google Earth API key for this domain, so that should be all set. I'm not sure how to access it, but it's there.

FYI, now have access to lat/lon info, but still working on alt. "sort of" have access to color—I can see it is available, but I need to do more work to find it automatically. kml is a weird standard.

good to hear you're making progress. I found a couple pages on getting alt info a while back. I'll try and find them again.
